Welcome to The Preiser Key, the first modern comprehensive guide to Napa Valley wineries & restaurants.

Until we published The Preiser Key there was no comprehensive listing of wineries and restaurants available. This was unfortunate, because while most area visitors certainly know where they will be staying, and usually have one or two wineries and a restaurant on their wish list, after they enjoy what they have planned, it is a “play it by ear” situation. In the past, in order to decide where to go, one was left with numerous magazines and papers, none of which are even close to being comprehensive, forcing one to search through and carry around several publications.

We have solved this problem.
The Key (published every four months to keep current) includes the most relevant contact information for over 640 wineries and 170 restaurants. All these businesses are listed in the database regardless of any advertising, so that the tourist, consumer, resident, and concierge will have access to only one publication that is comprehensive in its information.

It contains newly designed maps of the Valley which are drawn “horizontally” to enable one to find areas to the east and west, such as all the wineries on Spring Mountain, which can be nearly impossible for the uninitiated to navigate. These maps, prepared by a cartographer, are accurate, comprehensive, and to scale - something that has not existed.

The guide also features articles are designed to help the traveler, such as information on Appellations, tasting room etiquette, how to protect wines from the sun, what to do with a corked wine, etc.

The Preiser Key is free, and available in most Napa Valley hotels, Chambers of Commerce, major markets, and welcome centers, along with a wealth of tasting rooms, plus many other Bay Area locations.
